Alumni Letters
to new Patients
The Letters Project is an alumni led initiative created to provide hope, perspective, and encouragement to individuals and families beginning their recovery journey at ViaMar Health. It grew out of a common message we hear again and again from alumni and families: surrendering to the recovery process and entering treatment can feel terrifying, overwhelming, and lonely. Alumni wanted new patients and families to know they don’t have to face those early days without support.
Each letter was written by someone who has stood at the very beginning of the treatment/recovery process and remembers the fear and uncertainty and who can now also recognize the first signs of hope.
These letters offer the kind of reassurance many of us wish we had when we were new: honest encouragement, perspective from people who truly understand, and a reminder that recovery is real.
The project includes letters to new adults, new teens, and new families, showing just how strong and connected our alumni community really is. Together, these messages tell every new patient and family member:
“Recovery is possible, you aren’t alone, and we believe in you.”
